SUMMARY:Author Presentation from Lisa Franco
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a discussion and reading with award-winning author and journalist Lisa Franco\, whose book\, My Dearest Darling: Letters of Love in Wartime\, is a true account of the love story of U.S. Naval officer Donald Storey and his sweetheart Margery\, told through the letters they sent to each other while Donald served in World War II. Franco stumbled upon the lost letters during a fateful stop at an antique shop. What started as a curiosity became\, with each subsequent letter\, an obsession with finding the couple's family\, learning their history\, and ultimately\, discovering what happened to them after the war.Donald's and Margery's intimate and heartwarming correspondence chronicles their romance\, personal sacrifices\, hopes\, and dreams\, and gives a firsthand look at historical events as they unfolded overseas and at home. The author spent eleven years researching\, documenting and writing My Dearest Darling\, which recently won an international book award for nonfiction. She will be available in the lobby after the show to sign copies. 25% of the proceeds from books sold throughout the show's run will be donated by the author to Playhouse on Park. Immediately following the 2pm performance of THE PIN-UP GIRLS: A MUSICAL LOVE LETTER (approximately 3:45pm) This presentation and book signing is free and open to the public. Come for the show and stay after\, or just come on over at 3:45pm.
