Workshop: Islamic Illuminated Art
Discover Islamic Illuminated Art, or Tazhib, with Afghan artist Khalida Marefat. With Khalida and her brother, Emran, you will learn the traditional shapes and basic techniques used in designing shamsas, the intricate sun medallions that are part of this art form. Khalida will give a demonstration, show examples of her work, and provide samples for each participant to paint their own piece. No experience needed; all skill levels welcome. All materials will be provided. TICKETS $30 General Admission $25 Members Free for Member levels $150+ Cost includes all materials.
